Anniversary: Brunetts celebrate 50th

Former Columbia residents Harry E. and Joan F. Brunett, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 2, 2011. The couple was married Sept. 2, 1961, at the Church of the Redeemer, in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Brunetts lived in Columbia for more than 25 years where they raised their three children, Stephen, David and Elizabeth.

Harry earned a Master of Arts from Boston University; an MBA from Loyola College, in Baltimore; and a doctorate from Seabury Western Theological Seminary, in Evanston, Ill. His career included work in community organization and development, he was the first director of Vantage House Retirement Community, and most recently, he was the Rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, in Glenwood. He also created Journeys Community, in Columbia.

Joan attended Skidmore College and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Boston University. She worked as a Realtor with ReMax Columbia for 38 years.

The couple retired to Littleton, Colo. three years ago to be closer to the families of their son, Dave, and daughter, Liz. They enjoy visiting their Columbia friends often when they visit their son, Steve, and his family, in Clarksville.
