Meeting set for Dec. 12 to unveil Freedom area trail route

Carroll County's Department of Recreation and Parks will host a community meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 12, to discuss the proposed network of trails and sidewalk improvements designed to connect various communities in the Freedom Area.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the South Carroll Senior and Community Center, 5928 Mineral Hill Road, Eldersburg.

A proposed trail route has been developed based on community input received at previous meetings and work group sessions. This map will be discussed at the meeting along with other related issues including engineering/design issues, cost estimates, review of funding sources and discussion of priorities and possible trail names.

The county's effort was recently boosted by a $55,000 grant from the Maryland Bikeways Program. The project is being led by the Carroll County Recreation and Parks and the Department of Land Use, Planning & Development.

The meeting is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
