Teen from Union Bridge, 15, found unharmed in Baltimore County

The 15-year-old girl from Union Bridge who authorities said had been missing since Dec. 19 was located unharmed on Friday evening.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office issued a statement shortly after 11 p.m. that Mackenzie Lea Digiacomantonio of Union Bridge was found in Baltimore County.

There was no immediate information on the circumstances.

Officials said she was in the custody of investigators from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit, and would soon be reunited with her family.

Mackenzie had left her home on South Benedum Street in Union Bridge between 8 and 9 p.m. Wednesday night, Dec. 19, and was believed to be in the company of someone she met through the Internet.

Earlier on Friday, the Sheriff's Office had released photos of a man they had identified as a "person of interest" in the case, and sought information on his identity. But there was no information immediately available if that had proved significant, or even if the man in the photos had anything to do with the case.

Even with the discovery of her unharmed, the Sheriff's Office said the investigation is continuing.
