Westminster Police said they are investigating a Monday, Aug. 20, robbery of the KFC restaurant, in the 400 block of N. Center St. in Westminster, in which three men entered the restaurant, assaulted one employee and stole money.
The incident occurred Aug. 20 at about 9:45 p.m., police said. Shortly before the restaurant was ready to close for the night, three masked men with handguns entered the restaurant and confronted the manager on duty, demanding that he open the business safe.
Police said two other employees working in the restaurant were accosted by the gunmen. One employee was struck in the mouth by one of the gunmen with the weapon.
The manager was unable to open the safe, but the robbers took an undetermined amount of cash from the registers and fled on foot.
Police responded to the scene, but a canine track from the site failed to generate further information.
The injured employee was treated at Carroll Hospital Center for a laceration to the lip and was released.
Police said the race of the suspects was undetermined, and there was also no estimate of their age. Otherwise, the witnesses described two of the robbers as 6'0" to 6'2" in height, about 200 to 220 pounds; the third was described as shorter than the other two.
One suspect was wearing a brown pair of overalls; one was in black clothing and the other was wearing a gray jacket with a hood.
A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the robbery. People with information may contact Det.
