Westminster man dies after crashing vehicle into hospital

A 78-year-old man died Monday after his vehicle crashed into a building in Westminster.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office reported that Thomas Carl Skipper Jr., of Westminster, had an unknown medical emergency and crashed his vehicle into the Sleep Disorders Center at Carroll Hospital Center on Memorial Avenue at about 8:14 a.m. Dec. 31.

According to the Sheriff's Office, he was taken into the hospital emergency room, where he was pronounced dead.

No one else was injured in the crash, and the driver was by himself, the report said.

The hospital facility had minor damage from the incident, but did not have to close. The Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation.
