Teen defense at Eldersburg

Self Defense for Teenage Girls will be held with Eldersburg Library, 6400 Hemlock Drive, Eldersburg, Tue., July 26, at 1 p.m., for ages 13 to 17. Learn self-defense techniques and how to avoid potentially dangerous situations, with Sykesville Tae Kwon Do instructors. 410-386-4488.

Murderous fun in Sykesville

Baldwin Station Restaurant, 7618 Main St., Sykesville, will present Whodunnit for Hire in "Murder on the Vine," a Sherlock Holmes murder mystery with a wine theme, on Fri., July 29. Quilt Odyssey in Hershey

Quilt Odyssey will be held July 28-31, at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, Pa. The event features finalists from an annual quilt competition, as well as a never-before-seen exhibit of 1800s appliqué quilts from the private collection of Arlan and Pat Christ, and workshops and lectures held by internationally-known instructors.

American afternoon in Mount Airy

Mount Airy Library, 705 Ridge Ave., Mount Airy, will host an American Girl Afternoon, Mon., Aug. 1, 3 p.m., for ages 5 to 10.
