Manchester Valley's girls lacrosse team features a handful of players who could be considered offensive threats, which likely bodes well for the Mavericks' success this spring.

Lauren Cremen might be rising to the top of that list.

The junior attacker has come on strong lately for the Mavs, who defeated Liberty 11-5 on Wednesday to raise their record to 8-1 (4-0 in the county). Cremen (23 goals, 12 assists) had four goals, a team high, and helped Man Valley outscore the Lions 5-2 in the second half to pull away.

The Times Athlete of the Week collected two goals and four assists in MV's 19-6 victory over Hereford in a tournament championship game at home last Saturday. She tallied three goals in the 15-6 semifinal win over Centennial.

A few days before that, Cremen netted four goals in a county victory over South Carroll. And she finished with three goals and two assists in a 11-10 win over Westminster.

That's 16 goals in the last five games, all victories for the three-time reigning Class 2A-1A state champions.

Manchester Valley's offense has multiple weapons, from Cremen to junior midfielder Tayler Warehime (34 goals, 11 assists) to senior attacker Kyleigh Masteran (18, 11) to senior middie Beanie Colson (18, seven). But when opposing defenses have trouble locking down on more than one player, the Mavericks have a better chance to win.

Man Valley takes on Francis Scott Key on Friday before games against Fallston (10-3) and county rival Century (9-1, 3-0) next week. The Mavs visit the Knights on April 27.
