Catonsville students at four Catholic high schools named Commended Students

Archbishop Curley High School student Matthew Avara, of Catonsville, was named a Commended Student in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Nine students at Mount de Sales Academy were also named Commended Students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Catonsville residents Colleen Finley and Ashley Santana-Trebes, as well as Meghan Brown, Marina Congedo, Mary Connolly, Claire Halligan, Veronica Rittie, Helen Rogers and Grace Woo were the students at the all-girls Catholic high school recognized.

Catonsville resident Erika Manley was one of 10 seniors at Notre Dame Prep in Towson who was named a Commended Student.

Catonsville residents Paul Sweemer and Joseph Szczybor were also named Commended Students, as were fellow Mount Saint Joseph High School classmates Colin Crawford, Tyler Dewey, Brendan Dwyer, Xavier Gutierrez, Marcus Johnson, Alexander Kuethe and Sean O'Leary.

These students are among 34,000 Commended students throughout the nation recognized for exceptional academic promise.
