Mount de Sales Academy in Catonsville was recently named one of the top 50 Catholic high schools in the country by the Cardinal Newman Society for excellence in Catholic identity, academics and civic education.
The 50 schools are located in 21 states, with Pennsylvania having the highest number of honorees with seven schools.
The all-girls Catholic high school on Academy Road was the only school in Maryland on the Catholic High School Honor Roll.
It has earned this recognition every year since the honor roll began in 2004.
"This award is very exciting to us because it represents more than just academic excellence. It characterizes our students' faith and formation and how they live out that faith in the civic community. We are so proud of our faculty, staff and students," said Sister Mary Thomas, the school's first-year principal.
