Catonsville Crime Log: Burglar flees home empty-handed after hearing resident

Baltimore National Pike, 5700 block, 12:40-12:50 p.m., July 28. Man attempted to steal two cases of cigarettes from woman in parking lot of Sam's Club, then fled. Nothing stolen.

Malbrook Road, 100 block, 11:30 p.m., July 27. Screen of rear door of residence cut. Man rummaged through closet then fled after hearing resident. Nothing stolen.

Edmondson Avenue, 2000 block, between 10:30 a.m., July 21 and 5:24 p.m., July 27. Two pry marks found on shed door at residence. Nothing stolen.

Coleraine Road, 600 block, 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m., July 26. Rear window of residence pried open. Ring stolen.

Lee Drive, 300 block, 4:41-4:51 a.m., July 26. Bicycle stolen from unlocked shed of residence.

South Bell Grove Road, unit block, 2:55 a.m., July 26. Woman heard popping noise outside her residence and found her window broken. Tin foil and plastic bottle with hole found outside.

Reserve Court, 300 block, between noon, July 22 and 8:20 p.m., July 25. Chain saw stolen from garage at residence.

Cedar Run Place, 400 block, between 10 p.m., July 24 and 3:30 p.m., July 25. Video game system, games, laptop, camera, two pairs of sneakers and ring stolen from residence.

Baltimore National Pike, 5600 block, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., July 25. Two men with handguns forced 68-year-old man to drive to banks and withdraw money. Assailants then left man at a CVS Pharmacy.

North Rolling Road, 1100 block, between 5 p.m., July 23 and 7:30 a.m., July 24. Rear door of Moma Beauty Salon pried open. Two TVs and salon chair stolen.

North Rolling Road, 1100 block, between 10 p.m., July 23 and 6:10 a.m., July 24. Lock to rear door of Subway restaurant broken, alarm wires cut and rear door pried. No entry gained.
