Richardson's Farm Market, 5900 Ebenezer Road, a locally owned and operated family business, will participate for the first time in the third annual Foodie Experience."The eagerly awaited foodie frenzy takes place at the Hippodrome Theater, 12 N. Eutaw St., in Baltimore on May 12. Hosted by Andrew Zimmern of the Travel Channel's"Bizarre Foods," the three-hour food sampling will offer ticket holders palette pleasing tastes of some of the finest culinary and catering dishes offered in the area. Starting at 3 p.m., the event features top chefs and caterers serving their samples inside the theater while well-known Baltimore food trucks are parked and serving outside. At 6 p.m., Zimmern will address attendees and give a live demonstration followed by a question-and-answer session.
If you're familiar with the home cooked food at Richardson's, you know the consistently high quality it offers. Heather Hulzey, director of marketing for Richardson's, has attended the "foodie" in past years but this will be her first time on the other side of the serving tray, so to speak. . " "We have the opportunity to show our flexibility as Richardson's will be serving a catering dish — yellow tomato soup pipettes with a goat cheese, prosciutto, and black truffle panino," Heather said. According to Heather, that translates into "a very fancy tomato soup and grilled cheese". In addition to Heather, Executive Chef Ben Simpkins, catering Chef Shavonya Bracken and another staff member will be on hand at the Hippodrome Theater.
Richardson's Farm Market caters events such as weddings at its 200-year-old barn in Glen Arm. Political fundraisers, private parties, and other events of all sizes are catered on and off site. Richardson's also offers free cooking classes from time to time. Classes fill up fast so make sure to sign up early. Two upcoming, spring concerts take place in the Perry Hall High School auditorium. On Sunday, April 29 at 7 p.m., enjoy the music of the Chesapeake Concert Band and on Sunday, June 3, the Baltimore Symphonic Band will perform. The concerts are sponsored by the Perry Hall Recreation Council with support from the Perry Hall Improvement Association and Woman's Club of Perry Hall. Both events are free and open to the public. Once again, the Perry Hall Improvement Association is sponsoring a child who lives in the area to attend Chesapeake Camp at the Marshy Point Nature Center. The camp is a hands-on ecology day camp for students entering grades 5 and 6. The camp is offered July 9-13 and Aug. 6-10 from 9:30 am. to 2:30 p.m. If your child or a child you know would like to attend and cost is an issue, have the child send us a letter or email asking to be considered for the sponsorship, including the reasons he or she would like to attend. A Mother's Day Luncheon is scheduled for Friday, May 11 at 12:30 p.m. at Seven Oaks Senior Center, 9210 Seven Courts Drive, in Perry Hall. Lady members of Seven Oaks Senior Center are invited to attend this free luncheon to celebrate Mother's Day. Advanced reservations are required by May 4; guests are welcome for a $7 fee. Community condolences are sent to the family, friends and co-workers of Fran Ludwin. Fran was a longtime employee at the Perry Hall Branch of the Baltimore County Public Library (both locations). She recently died after a brief illness and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Update on Noelle: the lost, white Akita mix dog is still wandering in the Middle River, Bird River and White Marsh areas. The Rev. Lou Scurti and Noelle's many friends continue to pray for her safe rescue and return to New Jersey.
