Arbutus fire-rescue log: Volunteers assist person having trouble breathing

Among the 86 calls the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department received for medical and fire-rescue service during the period Sept. 2-9 were the following:

Wilkens Avenue, 4600 block, 10:12 p.m. Sept. 8. Crews responded to the report of a fire in Arbutus and extinguished the fire.

Greenfield Road, 6200 block, 1:59 a.m. Sept. 8. Crews from the Arbutus volunteer station and Halethorpe career stations responded to assist Howard County units at an apartment fire in Howard County. A malfunctioning dishwasher was found, but no fire.

Poplar Avenue, 1200 block, 11:56 p.m. Sept. 3. Crews responded to the report of a person in Arbutus having trouble breathing as a result of mixing household chemicals. One seriously ill person taken to a local hospital.

Walker Avenue, 900 block, 12:05 p.m. Sept. 7. Crews from the Arbutus and Violetville volunteer stations and Catonsville, Halethorpe and Westview career stations responded the report of an apartment fire near the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and found a Freon leak creating a haze in the building, but no fire.

Wilkens Avenue at Leeds Avenue, 11:07 a.m. Sept. 3. Crews responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries in Arbutus and transported two people with non-life-threatening injuries to a local hospital.
