The Lansdowne-Baltimore Highlands-Riverview Recreation Council presents its annual opening day parade and festivities for the boys baseball and girls softball programs Saturday, April 28.
At 9 a.m., a parade will commence at Riverview Elementary School on Kessler Road, proceed up Hollins Ferry Road to Lansdowne High School for a short ceremony. Expect to see elected officials, police and fire departments, military personnel, antique cars and balloons.

• From 7 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, April 28, the Junior Girls of August Raveio American Legion Post 195 will sponsor a dance with a 1970s theme. The $15 ticket also includes oven-fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, corn, rolls and dessert at the post, at 2603 Virginia Ave.

• The next monthly dinner with bingo at the English Consul Volunteer Fire Department, 2827 Michigan Ave., is Friday, May 4. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The meat loaf dinner is $8. Games are $12. Cost for both dinner and games is $20. Call the department at 410-636-4434 if you need transportation to attend.
• American Legion Post 195, at 2603 Virginia Ave., will host a Mother's Day dinner 3-6 p.m. Sunday, May 13. The menu includes vegetables, rolls, assorted desserts, coffee and tea accompany either chicken breast or breaded tilapia entree. Cash bar available.

• The Lansdowne-Baltimore Highlands Senior Center, 424 Third Ave., will a special lunch event at noon Monday, May 14, to celebrate Mother's Day.
In addition to a lunch of tomato soup, chicken salad, coleslaw, mandarin oranges, croissant and fudge brownies, there will be music and dancing, featuring Don Ingram. A $7 charge covers a meal.
