Wrestling: C. Milton Wright, John Carroll win – Patriots twice

The C. Milton Wright Mustangs wrestling team picked up a UCBAC dual meet win Wednesday night, beating visiting Havre de Grace, 48-19. There were no forfeits.

The Mustangs won all but four weight classes, highlighted by four pins and a tech fall. Mike Zito had the Mustangs quickest match at 120 pounds, pinning Shawn Collins in 57 seconds. Nick DiMattia and Ben Swanson also won their matches with first period falls. DiMattia pinned Kylee Barber in 1:36 at 113, while Swanson pinned Cody Southerland in 1:44 at 152. Ty Rochester picked up the other pin at 220, stopping Tim Peters in 3:48.

Doug Their had CMW's tech fall victory, a 15-0 shutout of Justin Wolbert at 182. Mike Ritz won a 8-0 major decision over Ryley Armstrong at 106 and Elliott Creamer was a 6-0 winner at 126 over Ryan Wilson.

Noah Bowers won 11-4 over Chris Schulz at 170 and Philip Flint edged Nick Scarborough 4-1 in the 160 bout.

Mickey Glendon was also a winner for CMW at 195 by injury default over Amy Kling.

Tommy Butler and Jesse Vancheri led the Warriors with pins. Butler decked Brian Jensen in 5:16 at 145, while Vancheri stopped John Arminger at the 1:32 mark in the heavyweight (285) weight class.

Daniel Peters won a 11-1 major decision over Gary Guzzo at 138 and Josh Nuce was a 3-2 winner at 132 over Spencer Hellman.

Huskies beat Cobras

Patterson Mill and host Harford Tech locked up in a tight dual meet Wednesday night, eventually won by the Huskies, who pulled away late for a 37-23 win.

With three bouts to wrestle, Tech held a 23-22 lead, but Patterson Mill won the final three matches to escape with the win.

The meet began at 170 with Tech's Nate Cook winning a major decision, 11-2, over Ian Williams. Patterson Mill got its first win at 182, with Tyler Mackechenie winning 11-4 over Cody Roth. Dillon Brush followed at 195 with the Cobras second major decision, beating Corey Myers 9-0.

Eric Eckstein then took the meet's lone forfeit, a benefit for the Huskies, at 220. Patterson Mill led 9-8.

The Cobras surged back ahead at 285 as Will Hughes edged Connor McLeod 1-0, but the lead was short-lived as Husky Chase Tallon pinned Andrew Schwarz in 1:17 at 106 pounds.

Nate Haskell's 9-4 decision over Will Urban at 113 closed the gap to 15-14, favoring the Huskies. Tyler Granese then pinned Mark Mossa in 1:29 at 120 to push the Cobras ahead again, 20-15.

Patterson Mill followed with back-to-back wins to retake the lead. At 126, Jake Nikkila beat Bret Blevins, 7-1, and at 132, Jason Noss won 11-0, a major decision over Simon Guo. The Huskies led, 22-20.

Tech took its last lead at 138, where Marcos Palaez edged Brian Chalmers 8-7. The Huskies then won the final three bouts to seal the win. At 145, Thomas Trzeciak pinned Tyler Butler in 2:42 and at 152, Nick Roney stopped Andrew Butler in 1:34. The meet ended at 160 with Devakar Sinha winning 3-0 over Tech's Tim Torre.

Patriots beat Pallotti

John Carroll, wrestling for a second straight night on Wednesday, rolled over host Pallotti, 57-21, ruining the Panthers senior night.

The Patriots won all but four bouts, including four by forfeit. The dual meet began at 285, where Pallotti picked up one of its four wins with a pin.

The Patriots got their first win at 106 with Zach Dwyer earning a first period fall. Pallotti won the next two weight classes by pin, before Artie Milner won a 6-2 decision at 126.

Pallotti's final win, a 11-4 decision, came at 132. John Carroll then closed the meet with eight consecutive wins. Scott Strappelli pinned in 0:33 at 138 and George Weber followed with a 1:44 fall at 145. Chris Almony continued the pins at 152, needing just 15 seconds to win. Hunter Ritter also won by pin at 170 in 2:22, while the other wins came by the forfeits. Collecting them were Zach Donato, Jay Etkins, Dan Kelble and Raphael Oduok. The Patriots are 16-1 in duals.

Patriots drop Eagles

John Carroll went out of conference Tuesday with a trip to Chesapeake City, where the Patriots beat the host Bo Manor Eagles, 47-27, in dual meet action.

The meet started at 160, with Zach Donato getting the Patriots off to a good start. Donato pinned Kelvin Mwangi in 3:18, and Hunter Ritter followed at 170, pinning Sean Statler in 3:59.

Bo Manor's Brandon Britton pinned Jay Etkins in 5:17 at 182 to halt the Patriots early run, but the stoppage was temporary as John Carroll's Rawlison Zhaing pinned Luke Ford in 5:15 at 195. At 220, Andy Reineger accepted a forfeit for the Patriots.

At 285, Kieran Dunn picked up Bo Manor's second win, pinning Chris Truitt at the 1:20 mark. CJ Skokowksi earned three points back for the Patriots at 106 after a 4-2 decision over Tyear Castle. Mark Pickett followed with a 4-2 decision over Preston Kist at 113 for three more John Carroll points.

Bo Manor won the next three weight classes, while John Carroll closed the meet with three consecutive wins. TJ Centi and Scott Strappelli both won by pin at 138 and 145 respectively, while at 152, George Weber won a 18-3 technical fall.

Bo Eagles top Deen Eagles

Aberdeen dropped a dual meet at Bo Manor on Tuesday, losing 49-21.

Aberdeen was held to just four wins in the match, two by pin. At 126, Daniel Velez pinned Stephen Carrigan in 0:40, while at 160, Jasaan Beck pinned Mwangi in 1:35.

At 145, Austin Smith was awarded the win by injury default over Bobby Morgan, while at 170, Richie Howard earned Aberdeen's other win by 7-3 decision over Statler.
