Softball: Regional tournaments set to start

With the end of the regular season comes the start of the MPSSAA's regional softball tournaments. All 10 local teams have been seeded, and each is geared up for post-season action, which started Thursday.

In the 3A North bracket, North Harford received the third seed and with it a first-round bye. The Hawks will play the winner of Thursday's matchup between sixth-seeded host Bel Air and 11th-seeded Parkville, on Monday. C. Milton Wright was handed a 10th seed, and traveled to play seventh-seeded Towson on Thursday, while eighth-seeded Aberdeen stayed at home Thursday, hosting the ninth-seeded Patapsco in the opening round.

The 2A East District VII Sectional competition is packed with Harford County talent, as five local teams will be gunning for a spot in the regional final. Second-seeded Harford Tech hosted seventh-seeded Elkton on Thursday, while third-seeded Fallston hosted sixth-seeded Edgewood in the opening round. Patterson Mill, the fourth seed, played visiting fifth seed Joppatowne on Thursday.

Havre de Grace got the fourth seed in the 1A North tournament, and will not play until Monday, when the Warriors host fifth-seeded Sparrows Point.
