Route 165 pavement work planned near Jarrettsville

The Maryland State Highway Administration began Monday a $620,000 project to repair pavement along Route 165 (Federal Hill Road) between Jarrettsville Road and Midsummer Lane in northern Harford County.

Weather permitting, the project will be completed prior to Memorial Day.

SHA will begin concrete patching with lane closures and flagging operations between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday and also between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

During lane closures, sections of the two-lane road will be reduced to one lane, with flag persons controlling two-way traffic within the work zone.

SHA advises motorists to plan ahead for extra travel time along Route 165 and look ahead for flagging operations in the work zone.

The state's contractor for the resurfacing project is Gray and Son Inc. of Timonium.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely.
