Man beaten and left half-naked in Edgewood robbery

A man was left naked from the waist down after he was beaten and robbed Tuesday night in Edgewood.

Three people have been charged in connection with the incident in the 2400 block of Willoughby Beach Road.

Police received a call around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday for an assault and robbery and found a 28-year-old Edgewood man had been beaten. He was treated on the scene but refused to be taken to the hospital.

The man told police he was jumped by a white man, a white woman and a black man he knew as "D," and he was beaten up because "I owed D."

After he was attacked and his phone, clothing, wallet and pocketknife were stolen, the three ran into a nearby house.

The homeowner came home and allowed police inside, where they found two of the three suspects, who told police "D" was upstairs hiding in a bedroom.

"D" was later identified as Delvonta Romane Grimes, 23, of the 2000 block of Starr Street, who told police, "He stole money from me, so I beat his [expletive]," according to a police report.

He, along with Austin Francis Jones, 20, of the 1700 block of Swallow Crest Way, and Katlyn Elizabeth Morrison, 19, of the 2400 block of Willoughby Beach Road are charged with robbery, second-degree assault and theft less than $1,000. Morrison is also charged with fraud to avoid prosecution after allegedly giving police a fake name.
