Bel Air man wins Havre de Grace Art Show Poster Contest

Soroptimist International of Havre de Grace, presenter of the 50th annual Havre de Grace Art Show, has announced the winner of the poster contest for original art created to highlight this year's event.

Michael McMillion, of Bel Air, was presented an award of $300 by Soroptimist Club member and chairman of the Art Show, Cindy Height, for his entry. Soroptimist International expresses thanks to those who participated in the contest.

The Havre de Grace Art Show has a call to entry for this year's show with a deadline of April 15.

Proceeds from the show benefit scholarships and community service. More than $ 600,000 has gone back into the community from this all-volunteer staffed show benefiting scholarships and community service also helping those in Harford County as well as Cecil and Baltimore counties.

To honor this achievement, Soroptoimist International is planning some new and exciting events for the celebration to be held the weekend of Aug. 16, 17, and 18.

Using the theme of 50, the fee for a 10-by-10-foot space will be $100, a reduction of $50 form past years. College students will pay a fee of $50 for a 10-by-10-foot space. As always, high school and younger students are offered a free space.

Show hours are extened this year to include a special celebration on Friday evening, Aug. 16 from 5 to 9 p.m. with exhibitors, food and dancing in the park featuring the Latin jazz sounds of the renowned Rumba Club of Baltimore.
