The 49th annual Havre de Grace Art Show, sponsored by the city's chapter of Soroptimist International and one of the city's signature summer events, is but a week away.
Held in Tydings Park, the event runs Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18 and 19, and features artists and craftsman exhibiting and selling original work. Wares range from fine arts to handmade crafts including drawings, painting in oils, watercolors or acrylics; fibers, floral, glass, jewelry, handmade soap, metal work, photography, pottery, ceramics, sculpture, and woodworking.
In addition, food vendors will be on hand and live entertainment is part of the event, which has no admission charge for spectators.
Proceeds from the event help fund scholarships and community service projects sponsored by Soroptimists International of Havre de Grace.
Live performances scheduled on Saturday (Aug. 18) are: 10 to 11:30 a.m., Shepherd's Grass, bluegrass Gospel Stage; noon to 1 p.m., Lewis Lane Singers, '50s – '60s style music, Rock Stage; 2 to 4 p.m., Hundred Yard Smash, popular, Rock Stage; in the children's entertainment tent, noon to 1 p.m. and again from 2 to 3 p.m., the Uncle Pete music show and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., face painting.
The schedule for Sunday (Aug. 19), is: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Paul Howshall, pop music at the Gazebo; noon to 1 p.m. the Lewis Lane Singers again on the Rock Stage; 2 to 4 p.m., When Thunder Comes, folk, Rock Stage; in the children's entertainment tent, noon to 1 p.m. and again from 2 to 3 p.m., the Uncle Pete music show and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., face painting.
