Aberdeen Resident Wins SECU Scholarship

Aberdeen resident Michaela Howell is the recipient of one of 14 scholarships awarded to Maryland state employees and their immediate family members by State Employees Credit Union, Maryland's largest financial cooperative.

SECU established its State Employee Scholarship Program seven years ago. Since then it has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships. Participating students each wrote essays of 500-750 words discussing how young adults are learning to be financially responsible in a technologically evolving environment, and how those new technologies – such as EMV chips, Google Wallet, Near Field Communications, and others – are changing their own purchasing habits.
