Pizza driver attacked in robbery attempt at Perrywood apartments

A pizza delivery driver was beaten in an attempted robbery at Perrywood Garden Apartments on Friday, the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to Pizza Boli's in Aberdeen at 8:39 p.m. that day. A woman said she was making a delivery to the apartment complex when she was assaulted by three men who demanded money, Sheriff's Office spokesman Eddie Hopkins said Monday.

"She initially went to the door where the pizza was ordered but the resident denied making an order," Hopkins wrote in an e-mail. "As she was leaving the building[, three] black men blocked her from exiting and one of them demanded money."

The delivery driver told him she did not have money, at which point one suspect grabbed her from behind and hit her in the head, Hopkins said.

She fell and the suspects started going through her pockets, while one kicked her several times, Hopkins said.

The driver began screaming for help and a woman came out of the apartments, causing the suspects to run off.

Another deputy who responded to the scene found three men and stopped to question them. He became involved in a "physical altercation" with one of the men, who fled the area, Hopkins said.

The victim was not injured.
