Regarding SHADES OF GREY/Harford County Public Library

As a Harford County taxpayer and the holder of a Masters in Library Science I would like to offer the following observations:

HCPL has, through its intelligent and sensitive selection policy, chosen not to spend budget monies to buy the above book, not to ban it. The book is still available through the county library as a download to an e-book application or through a hold placed on MARINA via the State Library Resource Center (which, like the Library of Congress, has a different selection mandate than a county system).

I would hazard the guess that in three month's (or three week's) time when this item and its qualities or total lack thereof are completely forgotten, HCPL will be remembered unfortunately as the library that banned books.
