Woman hurt in fall at Kilgore Falls in northern Harford

A 64-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital Thursday afternoon after she fell at a waterfall in northern Harford County, a spokesperson for the county fire and ambulance association said.

Norrisville, Jarrettsville and Whiteford volunteer fire companies responded around 1:10 p.m. to a call for a rescue at Kilgore Falls along Falling Branch in a remote area near Pylesville. The falls area is popular for hiking and swimming.

Because of the remote location, the woman had to be removed from the area with an ATV and stokes basket, according to Rich Gardiner, of the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

She was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, he added.

Rescue personnel on the scene said the woman, who has not been identified, slipped and hit her head. She was conscious and alert as she moved herself to the stretcher from the basket, according to photographs from a nearby parking area where she was transferred to the ambulance.
