IronBirds come up short in 2-1 loss to Brooklyn

Playing at home Monday night, the Aberdeen IronBirds suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the visiting Brooklyn Cyclones.

With the defeat, Aberdeen fell to 25-42 for the season.

The IronBirds' lone run came in the bottom of the ninth, but the hosts were retired before they could come up with the tying tally.

Cameron Edman led the IronBirds at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and one run, while Torsten Boss went 2-for-4 with a double in the loss. Chase Weems went 1-for-1 with a double, while Manuel Hernandez, Sam Kimmel and Creede Simpson each had a base hit for Aberdeen.

Taking the loss was Aberdeen starter Lex Rutledge (0-2), who struck out four, walked one and allowed one unearned run on one hit over three innings of work.
