IronBirds fall in slugfest with Hudson Valley

The Aberdeen IronBirds fought hard in their Friday-night road tilt with the Hudson Valley Renegades, but them came up one run short, losing 8-7.

Trailing, 7-2, after six innings, the IronBirds tied things up with a five-run outburst in the top of the seventh, but the hosts came through with the winning run in the bottom half of the inning.

Pacing Aberdeen at the plate was Creede Simpson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Cameron Edman was 2-for-5 with two RBIs in the loss, while teammate Hector Veloz went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and one run.

IronBird reliever Jose Nivar took the loss, allowing one earned run on two hits and striking out two over two innings of work.

With the loss, Aberdeen fell to 25-39 for the season. Aberdeen and Hudson Valley will square off again on Saturday and Sunday.
