Woman injured in I-95 crash in Harford

Two lanes of northbound I-95 near Route 543 in the Belcamp area were closed Saturday afternoon in the wake of a hit and run accident that left one woman injured, Maryland State Police reported.

Sgt. Behringer of MSP's JFK Memorial Highway Barrack in Perryville said the single-vehicle crash, in which the car overturned, happened around 4:30 p.m..

Jessica Sapp, 25, of Aberdeen, was flown by Maryland State Police Medevac to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, another officer from the JFK Barrack said.

He said a car identified only as a black vehicle switched lanes and hit Sapp's car. No information about that driver was available.

The Harford Fire Blog reported that at about 5 p.m. the helicopter would be landing on the highway and northbound I-95 would be shut down in that area.

Behringer said the crash happened on I-95 near exit 80, in the vicinity of the interchange with Route 543.

Also Saturday night into Sunday morning, two chases were reported "simultaneously" on I-95, but no one was injured in either, Sgt. E. Torres of the Maryland State Police's JFK Barrack reported.

One involved a mentally ill man from Hyattsville, who allegedly abducted a woman by driving her to Harford County instead of Howard County, Torres said. He told police "he was an angel and was going to heaven," and was transported to Harford Memorial Hospital.

The second chase involved a foot pursuit that began in Perryville, but Torres did not have more details on it immediately. He said no car wreck was involved.
