Rash of car break-ins hits Havre de Grace

Havre de Grace was hit by a rash of thefts from 16 cars that were all unlocked, Julie Morgan, of Havre de Grace police, said Tuesday.

The thefts included vehicles parked in the 200 block of Gracecroft Drive, the 500 block of Hall Court, the 600 block of Spinnaker Way, the 600 block of Alliance Street, the 100 Tidewater Drive and the 200 block of Heather Way.

Morgan said various items were stolen, including change, loose keys, cell phones, iPods and bank cards

"It is the time of year, between Halloween-stuff pranks, someone who may be down and out without a job, just looking to get whatever they can," Morgan said.

During Monday night's Havre de Grace City Council meeting, Police Chief Teresa Walter reminded residents to lock their cars.
