A traffic stop led to a long chase from Baltimore City to the Edgewood area on I-95 Monday afternoon, the Maryland Transportation Authority police reported.
A yet-unidentified suspect ultimately crashed his pickup truck into two parked vehicles in the area of Route 7 (Philadelphia Road) and Route 755 (Edgewood Road) after fleeing police, MdTA spokesman Jonathan Green said Tuesday.
At about 3:48 p.m. Monday, police tried to pull over the man on a warrant in the Moravia Park area of East Baltimore near I-95, Green said.
As the officer tried to stop the vehicle, the suspect took off onto I-895 and I-95, where he ultimately exited onto Route 152 in Joppa and then drove east for two miles on Route 7.
The fleeing driver crashed into a car and another pickup that were parked in front of Edgewood Liquors at the intersection with Route 755.
The suspect then tried to get away on foot but was apprehended "almost immediately" by police, Green said.
No one was injured, including the suspect. The only damage reported was to the two parked cars. Photographs from the scene showed several police agencies had become involved in the chase by the time it ended.
The suspect was taken into custody and booked at the Harford County Detention Center, according to jail intake logs, with a detainer form Baltimore.
Green said Tuesday that charges were still pending against the driver and declined to release his name.
"Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, I will not be able to provide any additional information about the driver or the incident," he said.
The man's name was still not available Thursday afternoon.
