Edgewood, Bel Air, Harford Christian, John Carroll all win in girls volleyball

The Edgewood Rams (1-1 overall) won their first match of the season Monday, blanking visiting Joppatowne, 3-0, in an UCBAC Susquehanna Division girls volleyball contest. The scores were 25-15, 25-23 and 25-18.

Bel Air, North Harford and C. Milton Wright also posted victories Monday.

Breanna Barber led the Rams (1-1 league) with nine aces, while Alexis McCoy added seven aces and two kills. Kayla Edwards contributed four blocks and Nashali Ayala had five aces.

The Mariners are 0-2, 0-2.

Bel Air still perfect

Bel Air moved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in Chesapeake play Monday with a 3-1 win over visiting Rising Sun. The scores were 25-19, 25-18, 14-25 and 25-19.

Bel Air's individual leaders were Celeste Roland, 10 kills, two aces, six digs, and Amanda Rodriguez, three kills, 24 assists, six aces and 10 digs.

Tia Williams added 11 kills and Rien Hachmann had seven aces. Kaila Gonzalez finished with six kills and Jackie DeLuise had three kills and two aces.

Credited with outstanding back row defense by Bobcats coach Tim Markland were Kendall Daley and Consuelo Ezcurra.

Hawks beat Cobras in 5

Harford Tech and North Harford hooked up for a good Susquehanna match Monday that needed five games to decide. The host Hawks won, 3-2.

Tech (0-2, 0-2) won the first game, 25-15, and North Harford (2-0, 2-0) won game two, 25-18. Tech won game three, 25-14 to get within a game of winning, but North Harford won game four, 25-21, and won the all-important game five, 15-10.

Morgan Knox had eight kills for the Hawks and Sam Pappas had four aces and three kills. Sammi Moore added eight aces and Britney Fleming had two aces and two kills.

Tech was led by Casey Pilar, nine aces and two kills, and Jamie Tubao, three aces and 23 assists.

Mustangs blank Huskies

C. Milton Wright (2-0 league, 2-1 overall) picked up a straight set Chesapeake win Monday over visiting Patterson Mill (0-2, 0-2). The scores were 25-20, 25-22 and 25-16.

Leading the Huskies efforts were Taylor Moran, eight kills and one block, and Dana Gileza, five aces with 14 service points, two kills and three digs. Mariah Treptow added three kills and two blocks, while Haley Scribner had three kills, three aces, 10 service points and one block. Kayla McDowell also had 12 assists.

Cougars lose in three close games

Fallston (0-2 league, 1-2 overall) lost at North East Monday, 3-0, in a tight Chesapeake match. The Cougars lost by two points in all three games, losing, 23-25, 24-26 and 26-28.

Leading the Cougars were Emily Mozal with 11 assists; Asia Avena with four aces and seven digs; and Phoenix Offutt and Brooke Alexander with four kills each. Offutt was also big at the net with four blocks.

Eagles sweep Warriors

Aberdeen (2-0, 2-0) swept host Havre de Grace (1-1, 1-2) in three sets in Susquehanna play Monday. The scores were 25-8, 25-19 and 25-18.

Indians beat Warriors

Havre de Grace suffered a loss Friday, losing at North East, 3-1. Havre de Grace won the first set, 25-23, but dropped the next three by scores of 23-25, 18-25 and 18-25.

Patriots beat Hawks

John Carroll knocked off visiting North Harford in four games Friday. The scores were 25-23, 25-17, 23-25 and 25-14.

In the losing effort, Morgan Knox had six kills and one block for North Harford. Sam Pappas added four kills and Britney Fleming had one ace and five kills.

Bel Air wins again

Bel Air won its second girls volleyball match on the young season Thursday, visiting North Carroll and winning in four games. The scores were 18-25, 25-15, 25-20 and 25-9.

Leading the Bobcats were Jackie Deluise, 14 kills, five aces; Tia Williams, nine kills; Amanda Rodriguez, 31 assists, five aces, two kills, 14 digs; Kaila Gonzalez, five kills; Sarah Scherba, four kills, nine digs; and Kendall Daley, 11 digs.

Other score

Harford Christian traveled to Joppatowne Thursday and won, 3-0. The scores were 27-25, 25-13 and 25-16. No further details were provided.
