Aberdeen hammers Bel Air in girls basketball Wednesday

The Aberdeen squad has proven itself the team to beat in girls basketball once again, as the Eagles have jumped out to a 4-0 start to the 2012 season.

In their most recent contest, the Eagles hammered host-team Bel Air, 74-19, on Wednesday.

Aberdeen was out the gates quickly, and by the end of the first quarter was holding a 26-2 lead. The Eagles were up 52-13 at halftime, and led 69-15 going in to the final quarter.

Brionna Jones was the Eagles' top contributor, scoring 26 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

Kierra Palmer had 13 points, five assists and five steals, while Stephanie Jones had 15 points in the victory. Aberdeen's Endia Jones notched six points and three steals.

Cassidy Jones scored a team-best five points for the Bobcats.

HdG edges Perryville

Meeting across the Susquehanna River in Wednesday's girls basketball victory, the Havre de Grace Warriors escaped from Cecil County with a 47-43 victory over the Perryville Panthers.

Taylor Smith had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Warriors in both categories, while teammate Addie Richardson had 14 points, three rebounds and one steal. Havre de Grace's Lauren Herrington posted seven rebounds and four steals, while fellow Warrior Shannon Pilcher had with four rebounds, two steals and three blocks.

Perryville's top scorer was Lindsay Poore, who netted 19 points. Whitney Hynson had 10 points in the loss.

Patterson Mill over Elkton

The Patterson Mill Huskies earned a home-court victory over Elkton Wednesday, defeating the Golden Elks, 52-27.

Qalea Ismail led the Huskies, posting 18 points, four steals and four blocks. Patterson Mill's Morgan Golec had 15 points and six rebounds in the victory.

CMW dispatches Fallston

The C. Milton Wright girls dispatched the visiting Fallston Cougars Wednesday, 60-33.

Megan Aro led the Mustangs with 18 points, while Allie Appleby had 11 points in the victory. Blake Bukowski led the Mustangs in rebounds with eight.

Edgewood topples Indians

Helped by Shania Stamper's 25-point effort Wednesday, the Edgewood Rams knocked off the visiting North East Indians, 65-36.

Edgewood's Jakia Robinson netted 10 points in the win.

North Harford loses

The North Harford Hawks were knocked off 46-38 on the road Wednesday by the St. Paul's squad.

Morgan Knox registered 19 points to pace the Hawks' offense, while Anne Wernig scored eight points.

Fallston by two

The Fallston Cougars eked out a two-point victory Tuesday night, holding on to defeat the visiting Hereford Bulls, 32-30.

At halftime, the two teams were tied, 18-18.

Sam Gasior led the Cougars in scoring with 10 points, while teammate Kayla Reilly scored eight.
