Thanks to Harford's generosity, The Aegis Empty Stocking Fund continues to help many each Christmas season

The Aegis Empty Stocking Fund, organized in 1990, is celebrating 21 years of helping Harford County families and senior citizens over the Christmas holiday season.

This year, more than 380 local families, 800 children and many senior citizens in need received Christmas gifts and other assistance through the Empty Stocking Fund.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the generosity of so many Harford County residents, businesses, organizations, churches, school and scout groups and others.

Because of their desire to show care and compassion toward their neighbors, the Empty Stocking Fund is on target to receive donations of more than $80,000 this Christmas season.

These donations have ranged from a few dollars to several thousand, and the members of all-volunteer committee that operates the Empty Stocking Fund want everyone to know they appreciate every kindness shown to them and every contribution made to the fund.

Also received this year were thousands of new toys collected at dozens of locations around Harford County, as well as during several holiday season events that benefited the Empty Stocking Fund. Again, the committee wants to say "thanks" for all these gifts that also include numerous new books donated for less fortunate children of Harford County.

The Aegis Empty Stocking Fund continues to recognize the good cheer of everyone who has assisted the fund this year and in years past. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Anyone who would still like to help brighten the holidays for a needy family or senior citizen, may send a check, for any amount to The Aegis Empty Stocking Fund, P.O. Box 189, Bel Air, Md. 21014.
