Man sought after shooting in Edgewood Saturday

The Harford County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man in connection with a shooting late Saturday night that injured an Edgewood woman who police say is his sister.

The suspect, identified as Keef Devon Alfonso Burley, should be considered armed and dangerous, according a media release from the Sheriff's Office Sunday morning.

Burley is described as a 20-year-old black man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 137 pounds. Sheriff's Office spokesman Eddie Hopkins released a photo of Burley to the media later Sunday.

According the Sheriff's Office, the shooting occurred at a home in the 1800 block of Grempler Way in Edgewood around 11:15 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies arrived a short time later and learned the victim, Doneshia Burley, her mother, who was not named, and Keef Burley were involved in a family argument throughout the evening, according to the Sheriff's Office's media release.

The victim and her mother were trying to get Keef Burley to leave because he did not live there, the media release continued. As they got him outside the house and were closing the front door, Keef Burley allegedly pulled out a gun and fired through the door, with the bullet striking the victim in the back.

EMS units from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded and transported Doneshia Burley to Johns Hopkins Bayview Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Hopkins said he did not have the victim's condition as of Sunday morning but said, "It was believed her injury was not life threatening. He confirmed Sunday afternoon that the victim and the alleged shooter are brother and sister.

Although the Sheriff's Office release says deputies were told Burley did not live at the home where the shooting occurred, Maryland online court records list the same address for Burley who, according to those records, is on probation in connection with a marijuana possession charge and also is out on bail in an unrelated case where he was indicted for drug possession, attempted distribution and distribution. His trial in the latter case is scheduled for March 19, 2013.

Anyone having information as to the whereabouts of Keef Burley is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office's Southern Precinct at 410-612-1717 or the Criminal Investigation Division at 410-836-5429.
