Incendiary fire damages Jeep in Edgewood

A car was set on fire in Edgewood early Monday morning, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's office reported.

A 2005 Jeep Liberty suffered $2,500 worth of damage after it was apparently set on fire at about 2:25 a.m. in the 3400 block of Willoughby Beach Road, according to the notice of investigation from the Fire Marshal's Office.

Four firefighters from Abingdon and Joppa fire departments took 15 minutes to control the blaze, which was caused by an "incendiary" object in the passenger area.

A passerby found the fire, according to the notice of investigation.
