Cross country: Edgewood's Tucker wins divisional race, halts Cecil sweep

Lenier Tucker raced away from the pack at Jerusalem Mill Tuesday, preventing a clean sweep by Cecil County runners in the two UCBAC divisional cross country meets.

The Edgewood junior won the 3-mile Susquehanna Division race in 17:02. Perryville captured the two team titles, and Haylee Haberkam led a 1-2-3 Perryville finish in the girls' race.

In Pylesville Tuesday, Bo Manor won three of the four titles in the Chesapeake Division meet, fending off strong challenges by C. Milton Wright. Over a 3-mile course at North Harford Middle School, Bo Manor's Diana Curtis won the girls race in 20:28 and led the Eagles to a 41-43 win over Wright. In the boys race, Bo Manor edged Wright, 47-56. Rising Sun senior Austin McGinley won the boys race with a 46-second lead in 16:25.

Wright sophs Miriam Silton and Kelley O'Neill finished 2-3 behind Curtis in 20:33 and 20:41. North Harford soph Megan Tidey took fourth in 20:46, leading the Hawks to third place. Others in the top 10 were Emily Cornieles, Bo Manor, 20:55; Regan Davis, N. Harford, 20:55; Emily Krakowski, Bo Manor, 211:02; Amanda English, Bel Air, 21:05; Jenna Krakowski, Bo Manor, 21:22; and Kaitlin McCabe, Wright, 21:31.

In the Chesapeake boys race, Bo Manor's Ryan Pfarr and Jake Trybus placed second and third in 17:11 and 17:25. Others in the top 10 were Matt Hoerr, Wright, 17:35; Frank Abbate, Fallston, 17:41; Nick Fransham, N. Harford, 17:41; Neil Thompson, Fallston, 17:49; Dan Fleming, Wright, 17:55; Sam Caretti, Patterson Mill, 17:56; and Tedd Holbrook, Rising Sun, 17:59. Fallston finished third in the seven-team field.

In the Susquehanna girls race Perryville's Jordan Dotson was second in 20:48, and Jessie Pain, third in 21:06. Others in the top 10 were Megan Ferrick, Elkton, 21:30; Olivia Webster, Aberdeen, 22:17; Kaitlyn Henderson, North East, 22:24; Brianna Murphy, Aberdeen, 22:50; Lena Muldoon, Elkton, 22:57; D'Nique Philip, North East, 23:13; and Elsie Buchanan-Wollaston, Havre de Grace, 23:13.

Perryville's Eric Barton finished second in the Susquehanna boys race in 17:13. Lenier's Edgewood teammate Mike Dzambasow was third in 17:35, helping the Rams finish third. Others in the top 10 were Chris Banko, Aberdeen, 17:58; John Thornton, Perryville, 18:17; Robbie Luff, Elkton, 18:29; Adam Thornton, Perryville, 18:31; Drew Gerhard, Elkton, 18:39; Conrad Helper, North East, 18:51; and Sean Mentz, Perryville, 18:54.
