Paintings and other works by the late Bel Air artist Hannah Cohen will go on sale to the public next week to create a scholarship fund for budding young artists in the community.
Hannah and David Cohen, owners of Hirsch's Menswear store on Main Street in Bel Air, were Harford County icons. Hannah, a prolific and talented artist, died in 2011 and David in 2012.
The Cohen family, through friend and fellow artist Jim Butcher, is offering more than 200 pieces of artwork by Hannah Cohen for sale at the Liriodendron Mansion, 502 W. Gordon Street in Bel Air.
Proceeds from this sale will be used to establish a scholarship for "Artists of Promise" at Bel Air High School, Butcher said Thursday.
The sale will be held on Aug. 23-29. Hours of operation are: weekdays, noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.
