Cement truck overturns on car in Whiteford

A cement truck overturned and hit a vehicle on Whiteford Road north of Archer Road on Monday morning, according to Maryland State Police.

The cement truck was unable to slow down for a curve in the road because its brakes failed, police said.

Attempting to maneuver the curve, the truck crossed the double yellow lines and overturned on a 2013 Chevy Malibu, which was northbound on Whiteford Road, police said.

Troopers from the Bel Air Barrack responded to the crash site around 9:45 a.m.

The driver of the Chevy, Nancy Ann Denton, 67, of Street, was air lifted to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Police said Denton sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck, Warren Paul French, 55, of Glen Rock, Pa., was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air to be treated for minor injuries, police said.

"It does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision," a State Police news release reads.
