Stolen car found on fire in Joppa Monday night

A car reported stolen last month was found burning along Winters Run Road in Joppa Monday night, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said.

The vehicle, a 2007 Toyota, was discovered on fire in the 2700 block of Winters Run Road by a passerby around 8:25 p.m., according to a notice of investigation from the Fire Marshal's Office. Five firefighters from the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company put out the fire in about 15 minutes, the Fire Marshal's Office said.

The cause of the fire listed in the notice of investigation is incendiary, originating in the passenger compartment.

Damage to the vehicle, owned by Jeffrey J. Walker, is estimated at $6,000, according to the Fire Marshal's Office, whose notice states the vehicle was reported stolen in mid-December.
