Contractors' Choice award winners

EP Henry has announced the winners of the third annual Contractors' Choice Awards, which recognizes the outstanding Hardscaping professionals and projects of 2012 across the Mid-Atlantic region, and a Joppa firm was runner up in one of the categories.

Wirtz and Daughters, based in Joppa, was runner up in the Distributor of the Year category.

Wirtz and Daughters has been in business 27 years and employs a staff of 28. The company offers both educational classes and field training, and also boasts extensive indoor and outdoor displays with labeled products and a retired contractor available for consultation.

Hosted by EP Henry, a leading manufacturer of unit concrete pavers, the awards were presented during the 2013 Mid-Atlantic Hardscaping Trade Show, the industry's largest educational event dedicated to the design and installation of outdoor living spaces – such as patios, pool decks, fire pits, retaining walls and walkways – that are built with EP Henry Hardscaping products. This year's awards were voted on by a panel of industry experts, including several, as well as the 2012 Distributor of the Year award winner.

"It's exciting to see how this awards program has evolved in the two years since it was started, and to watch contractors honored in front of their peers for completing inspiring, creative Hardscaping projects," J.C. Henry III, CEO of EP Henry, said in a press release. "Our attendance at [Mid-Atlantic Hardscaping Trade Show] continues to increase, demonstrating growing demand for contractor and distributor services. This awards program serves to acknowledge impressive hardscaping professionals and encourage healthy competitiveness within the industry."

Awards were given across six categories. Winning projects were evaluated on project objectives, design, execution, quality of installation and customer satisfaction.

To qualify for the Contractors' Choice Awards, businesses must have installed hardscaping projects between Jan. 1, and Nov. 30, 2012, and utilize at least 75 percent of EP Henry products, including Imperial by EP Henry, DevonStone, and Cast Veneer Stone by EP Henry.
