Rachel Edna Woodward of Shreveport, La., and Heath Christopher High of Forest Hill announce their engagement.
The groom is the son of Sam and Sherine High of Forest Hill. He is the grandson of Fred Mirmiran of Sparks, Wendie Berdy of Green Valley, Ariz., and the late Rev. Samuel and Rachel High of Baltimore. He is the great-grandson of Lillian Berdy of Coconut Creek, Fla. He is a graduate of C. Milton Wright High School in Bel Air and Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pa., with a bachelor of science in cell molecular biology.
At Washington & Jefferson, he was a member of the president's football team and president of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. High received his medical doctorate from American University of the Caribbean, School of Medicine. He completed internship and residency training in internal medicine at Louisiana State Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, La., where he is completing a fellowship in critical care.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Dennis and Pamela Woodward of Woodworth, La. She is the granddaughter of Mary Sue Woodward and the late Ashley Thomas Woodward of Shreveport, the late Elaine Greer and the late Joseph Aaron Sexton. She is the great-granddaughter of the late Edna Walsworth.
She is a graduate of Cedar Creek School and Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La., with a bachelor of arts in sociology. She is completing a master of arts in teaching from Northwestern State University and is employed as an elementary special education teacher.
The couple will marry Nov. 23 in Corinth, Texas.
