Aberdeen beats weather and Edgewood in boys lacrosse

Playing at 4 p.m. to beat the late day storms Friday worked out for the Aberdeen Eagles boys lacrosse team, which went to Edgewood and returned with an 11-2 UCBAC Susquehanna (upper) Division victory.

The Eagles (3-1 league, 6-4 overall) had six players score, including four with at least two scores. Sophomore attackman Ethan Mauzy led the way with three goals and one assist, while Justin Howard and Kyle Peters each had two goals and three assists.

Blaise Curtis added two goals and two assists, while Matt Merchant and Romann Jackson each scored single goals.

Freshman goalie Luke Whittie had another strong outing for Aberdeen, making 15 saves.

Junior Eric Whittie, a long stick midfielder and Luke's older brother, dominated ground balls and made plays all over the field in a fantastic individual effort, according to Eagles head coach Hinson White.

Stats were not provided for Edgewood (1-3 league, 2-8 overall).

Hawks beat Warriors

North Harford and host Havre de Grace did not start early Friday, but the two were able to get in three quarters with North Harford winning, 11-6, in Chesapeake play.

The game was halted after three quarters because of inclement weather.

Brooks Billings and Andrew Siegel led the Hawks (3-0 league, 9-0 overall) with three goals each, while single goals were scored by Will Duley, Randy Foster, Andrew Kropkowski, Brett Hurley and defender Brock Hurley.

Foster, Kropkowski and Colin Keating had assists in the win.

Andrew Siegel, Keating and Brock Hurley each had three ground balls, while Duley, Foster, Ben Hollingsworth and Brett Hurley had two each.

The Hawks played two goalies with Matt Goedeke making five saves and Cameron Brosh making two.

Andrew Siegel won eight of 15 faceoffs and Evan Siegel won two of four.

Havre de Grace (1-3 league, 4-4 overall) stats were not provided.

Cougars, Huskies halted

Friday night's Chesapeake contest between Patterson Mill and visiting Fallston was halted by lightning with 3:43 left to play in the second quarter. The game was tied at 4.

The game was to continue Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Rams lose

In Monday non-league action, Edgewood (2-9 overall) lost at Hammond, 12-5. No stats were provided.

Patriots get home win

John Carroll also took advantage of an early start time Friday and defeated visiting Glenelg Country School, 12-3.

Sully Gerety highlighted the win with four goals and an assist, while Michael Thomson scored three goals and Boomer Walton had two goals.
