The C. Milton Wright Mustangs kicked off the boys basketball season Wednesday night by edging out the visiting Havre de Grace Warriors, 48-46.
Mychal Stefanides led the Mustangs with a 20-point effort, while Connor Bays notched 10 points in the victory. Logan Keys scored six points for CMW, with Sam Hahner and Will Hazelton adding five points each.
Bays paced CMW in assists with three, while Hahner pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Keys notched three steals.
Lavell McCullers led the Warriors in two categories, posting 10 points and 11 rebounds. Havre de Grace's Tashawn Brown had eight points in the loss.
Huskies open with win
The Patterson Mill Huskies won in Joppatowne Wednesday night, beating the Mariners, 69-63.
The Huskies led, 33-27, at halftime.
Mike Reed led the winning side with 20 points, while Kahlid Smith netted 19 points in the victory. Malik Bonds scored 12 points for Patterson Mill.
Pacing the Mariners was Markell Huggins, who had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Gary Blackston put up 13 points and eight rebounds, while Matthew Jones netted 11 points in the loss. Joppatowne's Keith Alexander had eight points and five rebounds, while fellow Mariner Khalil Gore registered eight points. Jermaine Head put up seven points and seven assists for the Mariners.
Fallston drops Catonsville
Fallston knocked off visiting Catonsville, 66-40, Wednesday night.
The host Cougars ran out to a 34-18 lead in the first two quarters.
Wyatt Alexander scored a game-best 23 points, pulled down seven rebounds and had three steals in the win.
John Makres notched 15 points and four steals for the Cougars, while Ben Lodanski had eight points and six rebounds.
The North Harford boys lost 66-44 on the road Wednesday to the Perry Hall Gators.
Brock Hurley came through with a double-double in the loss, registering 23 points and 16 rebounds.
