Plans for an 85,000 square-foot retail building at the still-under-development Boulevard at Box Hill in Abingdon will be discussed at next week's Harford County Development Advisory Committee meeting.
The retail space, which will be in the same office and retail development as the Abingdon YMCA, a Joe's Crab Shack and the much-anticipated Wegmans Food Market, will be on the Aug. 3 DAC meeting agenda.
The meeting will be held in the second floor conference room of the county office building at 220 S. Main St. in Bel Air, beginning at 9 a.m. It is open to the public.
The big question surrounding the new retail building is what will be going in there?
According to Jim Martin, president of Ward Properties, the developer of the Boulevard at Box Hill project, the company isn't able to disclose the future occupant or plans for the space until the lease is signed, which should be "in the next 30 days." This is because of a "confidentiality agreement with several tenants," Martin said Monday.
While the occupant of the building is still unknown, it appears that it won't be the location of another movie theater, according to a summery of the July 1 community input meeting the developer held about the project.
The same meeting record says that "sidewalks are proposed around and throughout the site," as well as "stop signs at Wegmans and throughout," but traffic lights are not proposed. However, medians will be located on Merchant Boulevard and Wegmans Boulevard, the record states.
The commercial space is slated to be complete in the fall, according to the center's website.
