More than 1,700 participate in Bel Air Town Run

It was a beautiful Sunday morning in downtown Bel Air and a gorgeous day for a run, as nearly 1,700 runners and dozens more walkers crowded the streets for the 32nd annual Bel Air Town Run and 1-mile walk.

The 3.1 mile running course started on Main Street in front of the Harford County Courthouse and took runners meandering through the town's residential neighborhoods, including Major's Choice and along Broadway.

The 5K was crowded with young runners, many running alongside their parents.

Along the way, many residents came out of their homes to cheer on the runners.

It was one of the largest group of runners, if not the largest, to participate in the annual event.

At the end, runners and walkers hung around for the kid's fun run in Shamrock Park as well as post-race refreshments of water and Gatorade, bagels and bananas and the awards presentations.

The top three finishers were Will Christia of Annapolis, who ran 15:20.01, Charles Larsen of Phoenix in 15:30.7 and Stram Thomas of Baltimore, who clocked 15:37.3.

The top female finishers were Megan DiGregorio in 18:01.7, Megan McNew in 18:07.5 and Carly Page in 18:26.4.
