Aberdeen Proving Ground re-opens with a delay

After being shut down except for emergency operations on Monday and Tuesday, Aberdeen Proving Ground re-opened Wednesday, with a delay.

Harford Community College also re-opened for classes beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The post re-opened at 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to a Tuesday night announcement from the public information office.

Because of power outage from Storm Sandy, many major intersections in the Aberdeen area remained without working signals Tuesday afternoon.

Adriane Foss, spokeswoman at Aberdeen Proving Ground, said traffic into the post may have been a little busier because everyone came at 9 a.m. instead of being staggered, as usual, but she said she did not know of any major delays or traffic-related complaints.

"I think most people probably realized that it's a relatively rare situation and they understood the nature of what we do," she said. "There may have been a little more traffic than normal."
