Firefighters respond to early morning Aberdeen fire

Firefighters responded to a dwelling fire early Tuesday morning that caused more than $50,000 in damage.

The fire in the one-story, single family residence in the 400 block of Washington Street was reported at about 2:39 a.m., according to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal.

No one was injured. It took 25 firefighters from Aberdeen, Aberdeen Proving Ground and Susquehanna Hose Co. in Havre de Grace about 15 minutes to control the blaze, which started in the bathroom, according to the fire marshal. It was discovered by a neighbor.

The cause is under investigation. Fire marshals said the fire caused $50,000 in loss to the structure and $5,000 in loss of contents.
