Minivan catches fire on I-95 in Harford, owner flees

A minivan was damaged in an engine fire on I-95 near Havre de Grace on Sunday night, but no one was injured, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said Monday morning.

The minivan's owner, identified as Hernander G. Enrique, fled the scene before first responders arrived, according to a notice of investigation from the Fire Marshal's Office.

Members of the Level Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene, where a 1997 Dodge Caravan was on fire at about 10:19 p.m. near the exit ramp to Route 155, according to the notice of investigation.

The minivan suffered a about $2,100 in damage. The fire was coming from the vehicle's engine and took 11 firefighters about 10 minutes to control, investigators said.
