What case did students argue in a recent national mock trial contest?

A team from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, which included Anne Arundel resident Morgan Thomas, won a recent national mock trial competition.

The UMD team bested a team from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in the St. Mary's University School of Law's annual Lone Star Classic.

The event, which was held Oct. 17-19, is an invitational for American Bar Association-accredited law schools.

This year's mock trial "problem" involved a case where a businessman was found dead in his home and his wife was charged with murder. She alleged she shot her husband in self-defense because she believed that her life was in danger.

Sixteen law school participated in The 2015 Lone Star Classic competition.
