Florida woman shells out $164K per year living on luxury cruise ship

Florida widow sells home to live full-time on luxury cruise ship

For $164,000 a year, 86-year-old Florida widow Lee Wachtstetter gets to see the world while living in the lap of luxury.

Wachtstetter used to love cruising with her husband and after he died, she promised him she would keep up with the tradition. She decided to sell her Fort Lauderdale home and take up residency on the Crystal Serenity, where she's lived full time for the past seven years, according to Florida Today

Between her stateroom, meals, gratuities, nightly ballroom dancing and entertainment, Wachtstetter estimates that she spends $164,000 a year on the ship.

She's been to more than a hundred countries and nowadays she rarely gets off at the ports, unless she's in Istanbul where she loves to shop or in Miami, where her family lives.

The Crystal Serenity is an 11-year-old cruise ship that can hold 1,070 passengers and has luxury features ranging from boutiques and a casino to Broadway-style productions and Hollywood theater.
