WKMG-Channel 6 is looking for a replacement for anchor Lauren Rowe, General Manager Skip Valet said Friday.
Lisa Bell, who’s just back from maternity leave, will continue to anchor with Matt Austin.
“We think she’s terrific and doing a really good job,” Valet said. “She is a candidate for the job.”
The CBS affiliate has posted the anchor job. “We’re hearing from people near and far,” Valet said. “I’ll make the announcement as soon as we make our decision.”
Rowe announced her departure from the station on April 24, the first day of the May ratings period. In a statement, she said she was leaving “to focus my full attention on my health and family.” In January, she announced she was seeking treatment for depression. She had worked at the station 13 years.
In other staffing news, reporter Erica Rakow joined WKMG last month. She came from WJXT, WKMG’s sister station in Jacksonville, and she earlier worked at WJHG in Panama City Beach. Her station bio says she was born in Miami Beach, grew up in Weston and graduated from the University of Florida.
