'Witness,' at Princess Theater, commemorates Kristallnacht

Creative Sanford will present "Witness," a remembrance of Kristallnacht this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21 at the Princess Theater.

Devised by the Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Center in Maitland, "Witness" is readers' theater — community members will use the script to relay the stories of those caught up in the events of Nov. 9-10, 1938, when Nazi Germany upped its destructive campaign against the Jews.

"Witness" fits our vision of preserving history and we have a treasure of talent in our community cast," says Brian Casey, the president of Creative Sanford. "Our Princess Theater is the perfect venue to project historic photographs and set the mood for these powerful narrations."

Creative Sanford is the organization that also presents the community history theatrical project "Celery Soup."

The year 2013 marks the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht. Because of the significance of this anniversary, the Holocaust Center and the Interfaith Council of Central Florida are partnering with organizations around Central Florida for special commemorative events.

Doors will open at 7 p.m., with the performance at 7:30 both Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20 and 21. The Princess Theater 115 W. First St., Sanford.

The performance is free, but seating is limited. Seats can be reserved for $10 by calling 407-314-6750 or 321-578-1463 or going online to http://www.celerysoupsanford.com
